The House

Pension Villa Mária is a small family enterprise. It is situated on the western edge of Budaörs, close to downtown Budapest, 12 kilometres from the centre. It can be accessed very easily by car as it is very close to road No. 1. The pension was opened in 1998. The enterprise operates in half of a semi-detached house. Aunt Mária lives on the ground floor, in a small, two-room apartment.
The villa has three floors, on the uppermost floor, in the attic, there is a small apartment: a double-bedded room with a small kitchen, bathroom and separate lavatory. The rooms meet every demand (TV set, telephone). On the middle floor there are four rooms. They are large, two of them are three-bedded and the other two are double-bedded. Each of them has its own separate bathroom with a bath tub or shower. The pension can sleep 12 persons altogether. Downstairs there is the kitchen and the breakfast room, which can be used as a sitting room during the day. In this room 8 persons can have breakfast at a time.
There is a small garden belonging to the building, where people can have breakfast or have a rest in the summer. There is enough room for every car in the yard.
Two persons run the pension. One of them is the indispensable Grandma. She speaks three languages fluently and owing to her exceptional sense of humour, her knowledge and education she is one of the pillars of the enterprise. The other person is the writer of this text, the mother of the family, with classical education but increasing experience in the field of tourism and catering.

The Possibilities

There are a lot of possibilities of making excursions or doing sports in the neighbourhood, such as riding a bicycle, playing tennis, there is a squash court, people can ride a horse, take a pleasure flight and many other things. The hostesses do everything to satisfy the guests’ special wishes in connection with sports, culture or entertainment.
Our pension is a real family enterprise. Aunt Mária is the life and soul of Villa Mária. Guests can knock on her door with any problem, she is always ready to help. She is pleased to welcome guests even at night, or to give them breakfast at dawn, she offers a cup of tea or coffee to the arriving guests and provides everyone with sufficient information and maps.
Every morning she goes to the shop to buy fresh buns and bread, and puts the newspapers on the table with the breakfast. She has a reserve of new toothbrushes, alarm clocks, hair driers, bus tickets, some children’s toys, etc. – small things that are still important for the general good feeling of the guests.
